PARENT TESTIMONIALS

Rohan Iyer participated in buzz bowl in summer, 2016 and again in Jan 2017, and both times he loved the session. He enjoyed the NSB format of this competition which was a nice supplement for his practice to NSB-regional competition at Portland. Great job Science For Community for designing the unique format of speed bowl for science topics and helping middle school community to prepare with NSB competition. we hope there will be multiple rounds of this competition next year- once a quarter would be nice.

My son Saketh Dhulipalla, 7th grade EMS team participated in buzz bowl that was conducted by Science For Community (SFC). He participated both the times it was organized (Summer 2016, Jan 2017). He had a great time participating and learning from the session. He had a real NSB like experience competing against many other schools. The event was organized very well and done by SFC and other high school kids. Great planning and well implemented!!  Thanks SFC for giving our kids the opportunity to participate in buzz bowl. We would like to see more buzz bowl events to help middle school kids prepare and get ready for NSB competition.

Thank you and Congratulations to you for another successful Buzz Bowl event. You have taken an excellent initiative of running the Science bowl for middle schools students and giving them an opportunity to compete. I am sure you spent several hours in planning for this event, creating the question sets and managing the logistics. It was very impressive to see how you orchestrated this effort by bringing volunteers from different high schools to contribute. Each aspect of the competition was clearly well planned and thought through. Though the Proctors were also students, they were very systematic and consistent in their execution and scoring approach. It was evident that they were trained to do this prior to the competition. Amazingly smooth execution!

The opportunity for kids to engage in a competitive science and math competition is truly priceless. The day of the competition, my son went home and scoured the internet for orbitals and then proceeded to memorize the periodic tables. Thank you for providing a great platform for our kiddos to want to learn more. All the kids are winners here!

Kosha, your inspirational speech at the Award ceremony was very impactful and really resonated well with the students. Hearing that they can achieve what they believe in and starting with a topic of interest were some of the very important messages for them and carried lot of weight, when coming from a Senior student.

You are indeed a talented team leader and a role model for middle school students.

My sincere thanks for all the hard work you did to pull off this event. It ran very smoothly which can only happen because you and your scent of volunteers really sweated through all the details. Great job.

I want my 9th grader to really observe what you did because its a great example of not just going off and doing community hours to check a box, but rather to find something that touches on an area that a person has a natural interest in and then create something from there.

Thanks for organizing such a fun and complex event. Impressive to see so many high-schoolers leading the days activities, plus countless hours of prep behind the scenes. Our kids definitely whet their appetite for science as they head to middle school Hope to see you in future Buzz Bowls.
